Peg- Induced Drought Stress Effects on Spinach Germination Parameters

چکیده
Exposure to the drought stress reduces germination rate and seedling's growth with significant variations from crop crop. An unavoidable consequence of exposure is generation reactive oxygen species. They can be extremely several cellular constituents such as proteins, lipids, nucleic acids. Spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) one most consumed vegetable species, rich in vitamins, vitamin C, minerals, which are essential for human health. Besides, spinach contains large amounts bioactive molecules glucuronic acid derivatives flavonoids p-coumaric that exhibit strong antioxidant activity Osmotic solutions polyethylene glycol (PEG) commonly used control water potential seed studies. Effects of drought stresses induced by polyethylene glycol (PEG) on germination of Mongolian pine (Pinus sylvestris
Environmental stress, especially drought stress, can play an important role in the reduction of the plant growth stage, specifically duringgermination in arid and semi arid regions in Iran.. In order to study the effects of drought stress on germination indices in wheat cultivars, an experiment was conducted in factorial form, using a completely randomized design of four replications. In this e...

ABSTRACT- Improper seed germination is a serious challenge for medicinal herbs under drought stress conditions in semi-arid and arid regions. A new group of plant growth regulators known as karrikins have been proved useful to improve seed germination in some plants. In this regard, the effects of karrikin on seed germination and vigor of three medicinals under drought stress were examined. See...
متن کاملOsmopriming Improves Spinach Seed Germination under Environmental Stress
Seed priming has been suggested to improve germination performance under temperature or water stress. The objective of this study was to develop an optimal osmopriming protocol for spinach (Spinacia oleracea L. cv. Bloomsdale) seeds and examine its effect on the germination performance at suboptimal and supraoptimal temperatures, and under water stress. Standard germination tests at optimal ger...
متن کاملThe effects of different timings and severity of drought stress on gas exchange parameters of mungbean
Mungbean (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) or green gram as a dryland grain legume is exposed to varied timings and severity of drought stress, resulting in variability in photoassimilate production. In order to evaluate some physiological responses in one mungbean cultivar to timing and severity of drought stress, a 3-replicate RCBD (randomized complete block design) field experiment was carried ou...
متن کاملThe effects of Ascophyllum nodosum extract on the stimulation of germination indices in chickpea (Cicer arietinum) under drought stress
In this study, the effects of seaweed extract (Ascophyllum nodosum) on seed germination stimulation and growth indices in chickpea were studied. A factorial experiment was performed on the basis of a completely randomized design with 3 replications. Treatments consisted of seaweed extract at four levels (0, 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5%) and drought stress at four levels (0, -0.3, -0.6 and -0.9 MP). Drough...
